UCF is putting up bulk of points early

After struggling to put up points early in 2006, UCF is experiencing a reversal of fortune in the scoring department this season.

The Knights, averaging 37.5 points per game in 2007, have scored 107 of their 150 points this season in the first half. Meanwhile, 62 of East Carolina's 106 points this season have been scored in the second half.

UCF offensive coordinator Tim Salem said one of the biggest factors is the high number of veterans the Knights have on the field this year. With an experienced group, he said, the coaching staff is able to skip the basics and concentrate on adding different offensive wrinkles.
