UCF running back making it look easy

ORLANDO - The University of Central Florida's offense has become so proficient and dominant at running the ball, that when star tailback Kevin Smith doesn't rip off a long gainer, there's surprise among the offense.

If there's one reason why the same UCF team that was a disappointing 4-8 last season has gotten off to a dazzling 3-1 start this season, it's the vast improvement of the running game.

UCF ranks seventh in the country in rushing, averaging 252.7 yards per game. Smith is the nation's leader at 178.2 yards a game on the ground and averages a whopping 6.1 yards a carry. Already he's had two 200-yard games and another two 100-yard efforts.
