UCF has seemingly found its groove

HUNTINGTON -- George O'Leary surely would prefer a bit of normalcy to what has been an interesting Central Florida football coaching run.

First came a winless season, followed by a Conference USA East Division title in 2005. Expectations spiked last summer, but UCF stumbled to a 4-8 mark.

All things considered, who knew what to expect in '07? Results have been mixed, but the Knights found their stride. Consecutive wins over C-USA favorites Tulsa (44-23) and Southern Miss (34-17) position UCF within a half game of East Carolina for the East Division lead.

O'Leary's squad continues its march toward a postseason return this weekend against a familiar foe. Former Mid-American Conference rivals UCF (5-3, 3-1) and Marshall (1-7, 1-3) square off in Conference USA action Saturday. Kickoff at Bright House Networks Stadium is 3:30 p.m. and CSS will televise the game.
