ORLANDO, Fla. — Marshall enjoyed its first trip to Central Florida’s new on-campus stadium as much as it liked its last trip to the Florida Citrus Bowl two years ago — which is to say, not very much.
And here’s all you need to know about the Thundering Herd’s first trip to Bright House Networks Stadium: Two of the few highlights involved punts downed at the UCF 1-yard line.
Of course, that merely gave the Knights a chance to drive 99 yards for a touchdown, and that happened once. The day belonged to UCF, which stampeded to a 47-13 homecoming victory before a stadium-record 46,103 fans on a cloud-free Florida afternoon.
“[We] got beat up front,” said Marshall coach Mark Snyder. “They kicked our butt up front in the trenches, on both sides of the ball.”
