Central Florida hasn't won many games like this since moving to college football's highest level. Now Kevin Smith and the Knights hope that success carries over into their biggest game ever.

Smith rushed for a career-high 217 yards with two touchdowns, and UCF held on to beat North Carolina State 25-23 on Saturday night to spoil Tom O'Brien's debut as the Wolfpack's coach.

It was exactly the kind of boost the Knights wanted heading into an early off week that comes before their Sept. 15 home opener against No. 4 Texas _ the first game at their new $55 million on-campus stadium.
